for the past few year, we've spent the 4th of july with the geek's family. we all head out to emerald island for a holiday weekend at the beach. we go for walks, look for shells, read books, watch sports, rock in rocking chairs, and enjoy time with his family.
we don't really do any sight-seeing, so my advice about visiting the area is quite limited:
- north carolina aquarium at pine knolls shores: if you like aquariums, this is a great one. lots to see, including a touch tank and a gigantic shark and fish tank (with divers). it's educational for both kids and adults.
- swansboro: this is a great place to wander around. there are a number of restaurants and little shops in the waterfront area.
